My Inner life has always been compelling to me. Bored with any routine and wanting to understand the meaning behind life's challenges, I've always sought ways to look behind the veil of reality by meditating, studying psychology, eastern philosophy and shamanism; by writing, making music, dancing and by drawing and painting. After many years of being a painter, studying and teaching countless techniques and approaches, my art  making has ceased to be primarily a technical process to achieve a certain affect of beauty of realism that can be admired by others. It has become a vehicle for me to identify suppressed emotions and connect with inner wisdom.  There is a thrill of showing up to paint with the knowledge that the spirit communicates directly with me using the language of imagery, of colors and forms.  You can more examples of her work at www.imaginewithart.com.

Diane Dunwoodie

Art, for me, is a means of growth and discovery - an expression of my being any my becoming.  I strive to keep myself unbound by conventional rules, allowing my right brain to flow more freely onto the canvas. In this way, I've been inspired by a number of artists: Clyfford Still, Hans Hoffman, mark Rothko to name a few.  I'm most excited when the completed work in front of me is visually pleasing.  For more about Diane, visit her at www.dianedunwoodie.com.

Allan P. Friedlander

Through my paintings I have tried to create a feeling of the beauty that I see all around me in nature.  Sometimes I do it in an abstract or semi-abstract manner.  But the important thing I feel is to use colors to express different emotions.  This is the guiding force of my work and it comes from my deepest inner feelings. I want to share that excitement with others through the paintings that I do.  With the hope that the viewer can enjoy and be moved.  Find out more about Allan at www.parkerartstudio.com.

Kristin Gustavson

In this world where you never know what changes tomorrow will bring, what losses you may have to deal with, or what new perspective you might gain on life, I can't imagine what I would do without art.  Art gives me a release that calms my psyche, and allows me to speak when I have no voice.

Maria Krahn

Art is not only found in artistic creations but is all around us.  Art is in Nature, but also in the worn off paint of old buildings, in the random arrangement of shredded paper, in the cracks of asphalt roads and in the reflections of light on windowpanes.  We as artists, bring these things into focus with infinate combinations of shape, line, color and texture.  Sometimes we go beyond the physical universe to the more abstract realms and bring these two together in our artwork.  Learn more about Maria at her website:  www.goldridgeimages.com

Janice Lee

Color is the driving force behind my paintings. Beyond that one commonality, I seem unwilling to focus on any one subject matter or medium.  I, therefore, paint what inspires me at the moment and hope that the viewer may be inspired as well.

Lesley Strother

I consider my art to represent my inner architecture of current personal symbology.  It exposes forces and energies that I am exploring as my creative path unfolds.  Inspiration for my paintings comes to me from a variety of venues including meditation, dreams, personal psychological issues and formal painting practices.  My aesthetic sensibility, developed through my early training in architecture and graphic design, is reflected by undercurrents of structure, line and edge in my paintings.  I have been influenced by the art and writings of Robert Motherwell, the work of Franz Kline and Richard Diebenkorn.  To see more of her work, visit www.lesleypaigestudio.com.

Mylette Welch

Painter Mylette Welch was born in the sun-drenched, color saturated island of Oahu. Her family moved two years later to dusty, dry Bakersfield.“Something was missing.” She remembers thinking, “Where did all the color go?” For anyone who has seen Welch’s paintings, it’s obvious that the color went into her playful portraits of stray dogs, children, old diners, and rusty trucks.  Mylette’s paintings are rooted in the Sonoma County landscape- gas stations, farmer’s markets, the vineyards, neighbor’s gardens, old trucks, and burger stands.  You can see more of Mylette's work at www.mylettewelch.com.
